Bruce Timmermans Cycling Awards Nominations Now Being Accepted

The City of Ottawa is once again accepting nominations for the Bruce Timmermans cycling awards

Bruce Timmermans worked tirelessly to promote safe cycling in Ottawa, including founding Citizens for Safe Cycling (now known as Bike Ottawa), the most prominent cycling advocacy group in the city. He was a director of the Ottawa Bicycle Club, and also taught bicycle maintenance and CAN-BIKE courses. Since his passing in 1998, the Bruce Timmermans cycling awards have continued his legacy and passion for cycling in Ottawa by recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations committed to cycling in our community.

Since 1999 the awards have been presented in two categories: Individual and Organization. Members of the public are invited to nominate people or groups who they think deserve to be recognized for their contributions to cycling. A selection committee selects the winner.

A full list of all winners and a brief description of their contributions to cycling can be found via the City of Ottawa website.

EnviroCentre is coordinating the 2021 awards and you are encouraged to submit a nomination for an individual or organization that made a difference in our cycling community. All nominations are treated as confidential. Nominations are being accepted via Survey Monkey. Please fill out the nomination form by the end of the day on April 30th, 2022.
