Ottawa, May 5, 2016 – EnviroCentre is happy to announce the appointment of two new Members to its Board of Directors.
EnviroCentre’s new Board Members are:
- Alain Guilbert, held the position of Vice President of Communications at Canada Post for eight years until his retirement.
With a long-standing career in journalism, communications and marketing, he has held a number of senior roles in various publishing and communication firms.
Alain holds several professional memberships and currently sits on the boardof the Michener Awards Foundation, which celebrates and promotes excellence in Canadian public service journalism.
- Sundeep Virdi, Manager, Advocacy & Policy, Canada Green Building Council, is leading the implementation of the CaGBC Advocacy Strategy, focusing on energy reporting and benchmarking; green building policy; health, wellness and productivity; and national and international market development.
Sundeep has a strong business knowledge and brings experience and ideas in the areas of environmental policy, practices and trends related to green buildings, energy conservation and demand management and stakeholder/community outreach.
She holds a degree in Environmental Management and a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and is passionate about the environment.
“We are excited to welcome Sundeep and Alain to our Board of Directors,” says Michael Murr, Executive Director of EnviroCentre. “Both bring additional knowledge, experience and perspective to the Board, and will no doubt play a strong role along with other Board members in guiding EnviroCentre in its mission.”
Departing members are Brandon Malleck and Caroline Whitby. Their dedication and contribution to the Board was invaluable and they will be missed:
- Brandon Malleck joined the Board in 2011 and served as Board Chair from December 2011 to May 2014.
Brandon currently works for Bentall Kennedy as a Technical Services Manager. He works with project owners, managers, architects and other professionals in adopting appropriate policies, technologies and systems, with a focus on existing buildings.
- Caroline Whitby was a part of the EnviroCentre Board since 2013 and served as Board Chair from April 2015 to April 2016.
Caroline currently works for the Government of Canada as a Senior Policy Advisor and has also held the positon of Executive Director of Fairtrade Canada. She has extensive experience in project management, organizational transformation, international and sustainable business development, and quality management systems.
“We thank Caroline and Brandon for their leadership and dedication to EnviroCentre,” says Michael Murr. “While they are leaving the Board, we know that both will be proud ambassadors for EnviroCentre going forward.”
