What: On June 2, EnviroCentre’s Carbon 613 will host its First Annual Recognition Event to celebrate and share sustainability success stories of local businesses across the National Capital Region.
Since opening Carbon 613 membership in September 2015, a network of businesses was created, which are taking sustainability actions and reducing their carbon footprint. No matter what size or industry, organizations can participate in the transition towards the low-carbon economy. Join the inspiring discussion and networking reception.
When: Thursday, June 2, 2016, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: The Canadian Museum of Nature
240 McLeod Street
Ottawa, Ontario
Who: business leaders, sustainability leaders
How: Attendance is free and registration is now open!
Why: With the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in Canada coming from the energy and transportation sectors, businesses are demonstrating that there is a business case for sustainability. Carbon 613 provides businesses with concrete tools and knowledge to track and reduce their emissions.
EnviroCentre’s Carbon 613 is one of eight social enterprises across Ontario that are convening networks of businesses setting sustainability targets with the support of Sustainability CoLab. The program model originated in Sustainable Waterloo Region with the Regional Carbon Initiative, which has engaged almost 15% of Waterloo Region’s workforce in setting GHG reduction commitments equivalent to taking 12,000 cars off the road each year.
Inspired by this success, Carbon 613 is dedicated to creating a collaborative network of organizations committed to embedding sustainability into their operations and driving environmental and economic advancement in the National Capital Region.
Together we’re demonstrating that sustainability is in business’ best interest.
