Make Your Own Oat Milk

Did you know that 628L of water are required to produce 1L of cow’s milk? For almonds, 371L are needed and for oats – just 48. Each litre of oat milk also uses 10 times less land and creates 72% less GHGs than cow’s milk. Oats are milled and processed in Canada meaning it is local and sustainable!

You’ll need:

  • Blender
  • Cheese cloth

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 date
  • 1 tbsp. of maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 cups water

Step 1:

Pit date and slice into small pieces.

Step 2:

Place oats, date, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt into blender.

Step 3:

Add the water to the blender and immediately blend on high for 45 seconds.

Step 4:

Place the cheese cloth over a large bowl and pour the mixture into it. Ring out the cheese cloth to get all of the liquid out.

Step 5.

Enjoy!

Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Note: separation is normal – you just have to stir the milk before use.
